Team,

Another season is approaching, one era ending another beginning. As I update our team roster I am deleting the names of last year’s seniors. This always makes me sad. I think of all of the fun we had in that past four years and I selfishly have trouble hitting that delete key, as if not hitting delete would change anything. But on the other end I’m sure those seniors are ready to move on and tackle a new challenge. I wish them the best and hope that they all come back to visit the team in the years to come. They really are a great group of young men and I will miss them all.

At the same time a new era begins. Everyone is a year older, a little wiser and a little more mature. Last year’s freshmen now know what is going on and are ready for anything, last year’s sophomores are now upperclassmen and last year’s juniors are “beginning the end”. As the mornings start to show signs of a little crispness in the air I start thinking about hunting, which leads me to thinking about shooting which leads me to thinking about trap, which leads me to thinking about next year’s State Championship. But more on that later. Dove season is only a week-and-a-half away so after Friday night’s football game pull out your gun, get in some practice and get ready for dove season.
